3. You’ll add Points—for the first time ever!
You can now add to your daily Points Budget by eating and tracking non-starchy vegetables, drinking more water, and carving out time for activity. Building healthy habits has never been more rewarding!
4. A plan unique to your health needs
Living with diabetes? Your ZeroPoint foods list will include foods less likely to impact your blood sugar. We’ll show you how to enjoy fruit, whole grains, and dairy in a way that’s best for you.

Dear WW Philadelphia Members,

Here we are, December 1st, and sprinting into the Holidays and onto the New Year!.

One of the things that typically happens for a WW Member right after a holiday like Thanksgiving [which includes the consumption of every daily and weekly Point we can muster together] is a weight gain. And as WW Weight Watchers Philadelphia Members, we know weight gain should never be the end of the story.

Learning to handle weight gains and scale numbers in a healthy way is a very long lesson for some of us. Most important to remember, we do not gain 5-pounds because of one day of eating every Point available and some of next week’s Points. No, we really can't eat next week’s Points. I’m just making a point.

The 5-pound gain is several things combined. Yes, there is actual weight to the food eaten plus, additional hydration is required for the digestion of all that food. Then, think about the kind of foods eaten. Other than the turkey (a lean meat) the rest of the holiday menu isn’t your regular type of daily food intake. Add a few sweets or salty foods to the mix and you have a TEMPORARY 5-pound gain.

What makes a gain hard to deal with? It’s that moment at the scale when you see the number. This is also the reason I choose to weigh at a WW Workshop instead of at my home. At home, I look at the number and say to myself, “that’s pretty good, I deserve something to eat” or “that’s awful, I deserve something to eat.”

The truth is, the number on the scale is like a photo. The one you look at and hate because you think you made a face, or you never look like that. Like a photo, the scale is a look at a tiny moment in time. Later you’ll be a little less or a little more. It’s weeks of weighing every week at about the same time of day that gives you a real picture of what is happening with your body.

Do you stress about the time of day you weigh in? Most Members make every effort to weigh in as early in the day as possible. Most likely, our real and easier to maintain weight is sometime in the afternoon or early evening. Not eating breakfast or hydrating prior to weighing-in is just fooling ourselves into thinking we weigh less than we really do and over the years I’ve seen and heard of a few Members passing out in morning workshops, so please eat breakfast and hydrate before you come in to weigh.

Getting healthier on the WW plan means all healthy habits including creating a healthier relationship with our scales.

I had a group of friends join a meeting I was leading years ago. One of the new Members had never been a Member before and all her friends were rejoining.

The brand spanking new Member was the first one to the scale. She and I were talking as she stepped on to be weighed. Suddenly I hear her three friends gasp loudly behind her.

She and I both turned towards the friends ... I’m thinking her dress must have come open in the back, or some other potentially embarrassing moment.

All the friends were pointing down towards the scale as one exclaimed, “you’re weighing in with your shoes on!” The new Member turned around to her friends and said the smartest words I’ve ever heard ...“It’s not my shoes’ fault.”

I’m one of those Members who have ever since then weighed with my shoes on.

Stay well, be kind and wash your hands,
